Don't believe me? Go price a room in Key West, or even Miami! And that's just the room! You'll begin to see what I mean. Of course cruise vacations come in at a wide range of price points, from very inexpensive to downright extravagant. But in order to see what a great value a cruise is, you have to look at what you get for your money.
We can start off with the one thing everyone enjoys about a cruise and that's the food! You'll enjoy 3 square meals a day and all the snacks and, well, more meals you can eat! The food on a cruise is unlimited. You can choose to eat in the main dining room where your wait staff treats you like royalty or you can choose to eat buffet style with so very many appetizers, entrees and desserts you won't know where to start or ahem...stop for that matter! And if you choose to dine in, well, that's available 24/7 as well!
So are you one of those vacationers who wants to fill your day with activity? How does surfing...on the ship...in the middle of the ocean sound to you? Climbing a rock wall or maybe a round of miniature golf? Did somebody say "zip line"? YES! On the ship! But maybe all that activity just isn't your thing. Maybe you'd just rather spend your time reading poolside or sunning in a whirlpool overlooking the deep blue sea? Whatever your preference, you'll find yourself saying,"oh, yeah!"
Let's talk nightlife! World class entertainment from Broadway style shows to Blue Man Group! Comedy, dancing, karaoke and it's all free! Oh and let's not forget the casino! Of course, you have to pay to play there, but it's free to watch! The only time you have to take your wallet out is when you leave the ship!
And speaking of leaving the ship, we haven't even touched on the reason most of us cruise in the first place. Where else but a cruise can you visit three, four, five or even more exotic destinations and only have to unpack once? Sure, there are shore excursions at every port you visit and yes, they do cost to go, but it costs nothing to wander around town, taking in the local markets, meeting wonderful people and learning about new cultures. Personally, our routine is the same wherever we go. We head to town and hire a local driver to show us around his town. We tell him not to take us to where the tourists go, but show us his neighborhood, where he shops, where his kids go to school. We've always had a wonderful daytrip and left feeling as though we made a new friend!
So let me conclude by saying that when you compare the cost of a cruise vacation with that of a land vacation, compare what you're getting for your money. There's a reason cruising vacations are gaining so quickly in popularity, for singles, couples, families and multi-generational groups! As a matter of fact, group vacations, girlfriend cruises, mancations (think a weekend bachelor party), family reunions are great fun! Think you might be interested?
